About Us

Las Viñas BBQ is the story of two Cuban best friends who left New Orleans to
bring a more authentic Cuban experience to Miami. Julio is from Santiago de
Cuba and grew up in a restaurant family, working at his father's legendary Churro
Cafe, one of the oldest Cuban restaurants in New Orleans. Niorge, from Pinar del
Río, shared the same passion for authentic Cuban food. Together, they arrived in
Miami, only to find that the home-style cooking they missed so much was difficult
to find.
They decided to take matters into their own hands and opened Las Viñas BBQ in
Hialeah, focusing on Cuban-style barbecue, food by the pound and traditional
dishes available in house and for catering. They crafted their own seasonings,
mojo, and perfected the techniques that reminded them of family meals back
home. The restaurant is a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike, fueled b y a
dedication to authenticity and a passion for great food. For 20 years, Las Viñas
grew, becoming a staple in the Hialeah.
Las Viñas BBQ recently expanded into one of the most iconic spaces in Miami:
the historic 8th Street building that once housed the first Burger King in the city,
later becoming La Palma restaurant. This move was made possible through the
direct blessing by the Vall family, owners of Versailles and La Carreta, who
recognized the potential of Las Viñas' authentic Cuban flavors and preferred to
support another Cuban family with roots in Santiago. Looking ahead, the next
exciting chapter is an ambitious expansion into Miami International Airport.
While the space and menu will be more limited, we are hoping to still offer classic
Cuban barbecue, while keeping in mind the adjustments we may need to make
for an entire new setting with respect to other local businesses. The goal is to
bring a taste of home to travelers, offering a slice of Cuban tradition no matter
where they're heading.
